Hotel Okura Tokyo

This series of pictures shot in 2015 tell the story of The iconic Hotel Okura in Minato, central Tokyo as an icon of Japanese Modern design. Mastered by a design team led by Yoshiro Taniguchi and built in 1962. What makes the series important is that much of the hotel is now sadly gone. Demolished to make way for a larger more modern facility. I’ve documented the interiors, including telephones 'in cubicles for your convenience', the beautiful craftsmanship in the wood detailing throughout the lobby’s and meeting areas, the amazing stairs and exceptional furniture collection. It’s a gem, and these pictures I think have managed to salvage some memory of this statement of excellence.
